Our Services
Families First Counseling Services is one of the largest Child Welfare and Counseling Agencies in the state of Iowa. We provide services to over 5,000 families, spanning 57 counties, with 17 offices across the state to meet your individual needs.

Behavioral Health Intervention Services (BHIS)
Our Behavioral Health Intervention Specialists can work with children and adults individually in the comfort and convenience of your own home providing skill-based private and confidential services addressing:
- ADHD
- Anger management
- Communication skills
- Conflict resolution
- Coping skills
- Crisis intervention
- Decision making
- Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)
- Sexual abuse (survivors)
Programming is based on the person's age and the identified needs gathered through a thorough mental health assessment. The assessment is conducted by a licensed professional at a time that is convenient for you.
Family Centered Services
In-home services are provided to families who have experienced an allegation of child abuse. We are contracted to provide Evidenced Based Programming to clients we serve including SafeCare and Motivational Interviewing. Additionally, we provide services to families to ensure basic needs are met while ensuring child safety. Some of these services include: transportation, professionally supervised family interactions and connection to community resources.
In-Office Therapy
A variety of in-office therapeutic services are available for children, adolescents and adults. The specialties of the therapists encompass a variety of issues and populations including ADHD, oppositional behaviors, impulse control problems and emotional issues such as depression in children and adolescents. Adult services are also available to provide therapy for mood disorders, thought disorders, anxiety disorders and personality disorders.
